Golden Arches Meet White Tablecloths

Mini-muffins, bagels, fresh fruit and yogurt are standard grub at early morning meetings. For lunch, it’s salads, sandwiches — maybe a little Mexican fare now and then. But in downtown Chicago, a handful of companies now have the opportunity to shake things up a bit.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, a McDonald’s franchise has begun offering catering to its neighbors on North Michigan Avenue and East Wacker Drive. Big Macs, Egg McMuffins and a limited selection of other McDonald’s breakfast and lunch items can be delivered straight to the conference room with white-tablecloth service, says Darren Remmer, the restaurant’s catering manager.
There’s a 10-person minimum for catering and it will cost a bit more than ordering at the counter. Soda will be served from cans rather than the fountain, and Remmer encourages people to go for chips rather than the chain’s signature french fries. Still, if the meeting organizer insists, McDonald’s will bring the fries, along with heat lamps and chafing dishes.
