Seeing Green in Red Square?

Moscow’s historic Red Square district is rekindling its regal reputation with the debut of toy store CKA3KA.

The interactive store, pronounced “Skazka,” is the brainchild of design firm Chute Gerdeman Retail. By melding innovation, technology and the appeal of Russian fairytales, the store is a perfect fit for Red Square, originally the city’s main marketplace.

Upon entering the four-level store, shoppers see racecars speeding by on tracks. Toy helicopters fly overhead, and favorite toys come alive with the help of three-dimensional animation. Each floor is unique, with special sections dedicated to science, arts and crafts, construction, games and puzzles, magic, cars and dolls.

Eager to give pre-schoolers a place of their own, the designers created toddler play areas that feature creative and educational toys. CKA3KA also carries an extensive inventory of collectibles focused on Russian history.

The fairytale theme carries over into a party room that can be rented for family occasions and birthday parties.

“CKA3KA is truly a destination toy store for kids, and their families, and is sure to become a new landmark for all who visit and live in Moscow,” says Chute Gerdeman founder Denny Gerdeman.
