Rolling Stone magazine is venturing into retail with plans to open a restaurant/nightclub this summer in Los Angeles.

The 10,000-sq.-ft. multi-level space at Hollywood & Highland Center will feature a restaurant, bar, lounge and upscale event space – though there are no plans to host concerts.

The restaurant is the brainchild of magazine founder and publisher Jann Wenner and the Lucky Rug Group, a commercial real estate firm founded by entrepreneurs Niall Donnelly and Joe Altounian (who has a decade’s experience navigating Southern California’s real estate market). Brodin Design Build has set the tone for the entertainment venue with black brick, tufted leather and vaulted ceilings, as well as an antique staircase.

“We’ve been looking for the ideal opportunity to expand the Rolling Stone brand for some time,” Wenner says. “The city of Los Angeles is deeply entrenched in the history of both the magazine and rock music, so we’re excited to bring Rolling Stone to life.”
