Target has hit the bull’s eye with the introduction of the Target Mobile GiftCard.

Shoppers can now download and save gift card information to a PIN-secured account on the Target.com mobile site. All they need to access the card is a mobile phone with Internet capabilities. Using their phones, Target guests can retrieve gift card bar codes for scanning at checkout.

Guests may access their Target Mobile GiftCards at the point of sale as well as online. In addition, the technology enables the shoppers to input multiple cards, check balances and add value to the virtual card.

Target is reported to be the first major retailer with the ability to scan mobile bar codes in all of its stores.
