Phoster Lighting, with help from OSRAM Opto Semiconductor LED products, recently revamped the lighting in the bedding department of Macy’s Herald Square store in New York and Dillard’s shoe and handbag department.

Phoster was tasked with developing and installing replacement LED lighting systems that provide energy savings, lower replacement and maintenance costs and also help eliminate inventory damage caused by heat and UV emissions from traditional lighting.

Along with casting products “in a better light,” Dillard’s stores will achieve an 80 percent reduction in energy consumption – saving $4 million a year. Macy’s has reduced energy consumption 85 percent and seen a rise in sales of 30 percent.
