What Makes Them Hot

The Hot 100 Retailers section is the definitive annual ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing publicly traded retail chains. Rankings are determined by increases in year-over-year revenues between 2007 and 2008.

This year, the list was compiled for STORES by London-based research firm Planet Retail; the biggest change to the methodology was raising the threshold for inclusion from $100 million in revenues to $300 million.

Hot 100 retailers managed average year-over-year revenue growth of 9.4 percent – quite an accomplishment, given that the economy was already heading south fast by mid-2008.
