Saving paper
Another immediate, tangible benefit of Monarch typically is a reduction in paper usage: Employees don’t have to print a report in order to use it to re-key information. Monarch also can reduce the IT department’s workload by allowing employees to create and run their own reports on a self-serve basis. “IT doesn’t get requests for one-off data queries,” Urbonas says.

Equally important, employees are able to get the reports they need more quickly than going through IT. Moreover, Monarch can be used within some companies in place of an enterprise-wide business intelligence application.

At Hannoush, Strandberg uses the application to support almost all reporting and analysis. “I use Monarch every single day,” she says. “I run everything through Monarch.”

Employees often can teach themselves to use Monarch, eliminating the need for expensive user education. While training from Datawatch is available at the beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, many customers, like Strandberg, become proficient on their own.
